LONDON WORKPLACE FIRE SAFETY REPORT 2026 — MEDIA BRIEFING Published: 10 September 2026 Permanent page: https://firesafetyservices.org.uk/research/london-workplace-fire-safety-report-2026/ HEADLINE London Fire Brigade records show 3,490 fires across selected office, retail, hospitality and customer-service premises during 2021–2025. Shops recorded the largest raw total (1,033), followed by restaurants and cafés (693) and offices (510). KEY FINDINGS • 706 selected workplace fires were recorded in 2025, compared with 642 in 2024. • Westminster had the largest raw five-year authority count (458); this is not an exposure-adjusted risk rate. • Across all property uses, the separate LFB regulatory dataset recorded 4,833 London audit records and 246 formal-action outcomes in 2025. These cannot be attributed to the selected workplace fires. • The selected incident categories recorded 46,912 false alarms across 2021–2025. USE WITH CARE The analysis counts selected published LFB property types. It does not measure the probability of fire, current legal compliance or comparative safety. Counts are not adjusted for the number, size, occupancy, footfall or opening hours of premises.
