Terms of use

Website terms of use

These terms govern use of this website and its enquiry service. They do not replace the separate quotation and contract that applies if you appoint a fire-safety provider.

Using the site

Application of these terms

By using the site, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the forms or rely on the content. Separate privacy and cookie policies govern personal information and browser technology.

The website is intended primarily for people and premises in England. References to law or guidance may not apply in Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland or another jurisdiction.

Guidance limits

Information is not a site-specific assessment

We aim to keep content clear and source-led, but it is general information. It is not legal advice, an enforcing-authority decision, a professional design, a fire risk assessment or confirmation that a building complies.

You remain responsible for checking current requirements and obtaining competent assistance where necessary. Never delay evacuation, emergency action or contact with the fire and rescue service because of website content.

Calculators and templates

Estimates, tools and downloadable material

Any online estimate is an indicative planning range based only on selected inputs. It may exclude VAT and can change because of size, use, occupancy, access, records, travel, complexity or specialist investigation.

Templates are starting points and must be adapted to the actual premises. Neither an estimate nor a completed template guarantees that legal duties have been met.

Email subscriptions

Resource delivery, follow-ups and Fire Safety Services emails

When you select the subscription checkbox on a form that emails a template, checklist or other resource, you ask us to deliver that resource and subscribe the email address to Fire Safety Services communications. These may include a follow-up around a week after the request, fire risk assessment and fire-safety guidance, new or updated resources, relevant services, regulatory or practical updates and help finding suitable fire-safety professionals.

Messages will be relevant to fire safety and the services provided through this website, but they will not be limited to the particular resource first requested. Selecting this checkbox does not authorise us to share your details with a provider; an enquiry or referral requires the separate consent shown on the relevant form.

You may unsubscribe at any time using the unsubscribe link in a subscription email or by contacting us. Unsubscribing applies to future subscription and marketing messages; it does not prevent us from sending a resource you requested, responding to an enquiry or retaining a minimal suppression record needed to respect your choice.

  • The checkbox must be actively selected before the emailed resource is requested
  • The form records the resource, form name and version of the subscription wording
  • Subscription emails will identify Fire Safety Services and provide an unsubscribe route
  • Do not forward a subscription email to someone else as a way of subscribing them

Provider appointments

Enquiries, referrals and contracts

Submitting a form is an invitation to discuss possible work and creates no obligation to proceed. The website may share the enquiry with a connected or independent provider and may receive a referral fee or other commercial benefit.

The provider must confirm its identity, scope, exclusions, availability, price, taxes, competence evidence and terms. Any contract for assessment or other fire-safety work is between you and that provider unless expressly agreed otherwise in writing.

  • Read the provider’s quotation and terms
  • Confirm whether VAT and mandatory charges are included
  • Check BAFE and NFRAR evidence where relevant to fire risk assessment work
  • Verify insurance and the individual carrying out the work
  • Retain reports, certificates, invoices and action records

Responsible use

What you must not do

Do not interfere with the site, attempt unauthorised access, submit malicious code, impersonate another person, scrape personal information, overload forms or use content unlawfully.

Information and original presentation on the site are protected by applicable intellectual-property rights. You may link to public pages and make reasonable personal or internal-business use, but must not republish substantial content as your own or remove source attribution.

Legal limits

Responsibility and liability

Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation. Your statutory rights are not affected.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the website operator is not responsible for loss caused by treating general content or an indicative estimate as a substitute for a site-specific professional judgement, or for the independent acts, omissions or contractual performance of a referred provider.

Changes and law

Availability, updates and governing law

We may correct, update, withdraw or reorganise the site without notice. We do not promise uninterrupted availability. Material changes to these terms will be shown by updating the date below.

These terms and non-contractual disputes relating to the site are governed by the law of England and Wales, subject to any mandatory consumer rights. Last reviewed: 26 July 2026.
