Service overview
Fire alarm servicing is a competent-person inspection and maintenance activity. It is separate from the weekly user test and should examine the system condition, functions, devices, power supplies, records, false alarms, changes and outstanding faults.
For many non-domestic systems, BS 5839-1 recommends inspection and servicing at intervals not exceeding six months. The appropriate frequency can be shorter where the risk, system condition, premises use or previous faults justify it.

Scope of work
A quotation should state exactly which parts of the work are included and who is responsible for design decisions, access, certification and any remedial work.
