What is a digital fire safety logbook?
It is an online record of fire-safety activities for a premises. The Fire Safety Services logbook brings check records, schedules, corrective actions and supporting evidence into a workspace that named users can access from a browser.
What can I try without paying?
Create an account and save your first genuine logbook entry without a card. This is a one-entry taster, not an unlimited free plan or a time-limited trial. Ongoing recording requires a subscription for the premises. A separate fictional interactive demo is also free to explore without an account or card.
How much does the online fire safety logbook cost?
The new customer annual offer is £49 for your first year, then £59 per year, per premises. Monthly recording costs £5.99 per month per premises. Plans renew automatically until cancelled. These are the total subscription prices; no VAT is added.
Can I use the logbook on my phone?
Yes. The app works in a web browser on a phone, tablet or desktop. No app-store installation is required. You need an internet connection; this is not an offline recording app.
Can staff and contractors use the same premises logbook?
An eligible paid premises can have up to 10 named users including the Owner. The Owner manages invitations and permissions. Staff can carry out permitted recording activities; Viewers have read-only access. Use named accounts rather than sharing a password.
Can I keep photographs and certificates with the records?
The paid premises allowance includes 100 MB of stored evidence and up to 4 MB per saved file. Supported evidence includes PDFs and JPG/PNG photographs. Photographs are compressed before storage; check that important details remain readable. Evidence can be linked to records or actions.
Can I download the full logbook as PDF or Excel?
Yes. You can download a recorded logbook as PDF or a branded Excel workbook, with separate tabs for checks, actions and other retained records. JSON, CSV and individual evidence downloads are also available. The combined evidence ZIP requires active paid access and has separate immediate-download size limits.
What happens when I cancel my subscription?
You can cancel renewal without deleting the premises records. Paid access normally continues until the confirmed paid period ends. Existing records, basic exports, corrections and existing-fault follow-through remain available when paid recording ends. Account or data deletion is a separate safeguarded process.
Does a digital logbook replace my fire risk assessment or certify compliance?
No. It supports record keeping. Your premises still needs suitable fire-safety arrangements, a fire risk assessment where required, competent maintenance and action on defects. Recording that a check happened does not prove that the work was competent or that the building is compliant.
Can I still receive the free Word or PDF logbook?
Yes. Request it on the free template page by giving your email address and agreeing to the Fire Safety Services email subscription. We email the PDF and Word files; no app account or paid subscription is needed. You can unsubscribe from future subscription emails at any time. The paid digital logbook is a separate option for ongoing online recording.
